KEEP HYDRATED OVER THE FESTIVE SEASON |
|
We are now in the festive season, getting very excited for the big day and all the parties in-between.
Lots of wonderful food and normally a little too much alcohol,
but don't panic we have a few helpful tips to help you through the festive season.
- Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables as they contain lots of water – try to eat at least five portions a day.
- Try to alternate your drinks by having a glass of water in-between each alcoholic drink
- Before you go to bed drink a pint of water, this will reduce any hangover you might have the following morning.
- Keep a glass of water by the bed to sip if you wake up during the night and keep drinking water during the following day.
- Don't drink on an empty stomach. Before you go out, have a meal that includes carbohydrates (such as pasta or rice) or fats. The food will help slow down the body’s absorption of alcohol.
- Don't drink dark-coloured drinks if you've found that you're sensitive to them. They contain natural chemicals called congeners (impurities), which irritate blood vessels and tissue in the brain and can make a hangover worse.
