KEEP HYDRATED OVER THE FESTIVE SEASON

We are now in the festive season, getting very excited for the big day and all the parties in-between.


Lots of wonderful food and normally a little too much alcohol,

but don't panic we have a few helpful tips to help you through the festive season.

 

  1. Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables as they contain lots of water – try to eat at least five portions a day.
  2. Try to alternate your drinks by having a glass of water in-between each alcoholic drink
  3. Before you go to bed drink a pint of water, this will reduce any hangover you might have the following morning.
  4. Keep a glass of water by the bed to sip if you wake up during the night and keep drinking water during the following day.
  5. Don't drink on an empty stomach. Before you go out, have a meal that includes carbohydrates (such as pasta or rice) or fats. The food will help slow down the body’s absorption of alcohol.
  6. Don't drink dark-coloured drinks if you've found that you're sensitive to them. They contain natural chemicals called congeners (impurities), which irritate blood vessels and tissue in the brain and can make a hangover worse.
